“Icepo 3” was placed in Dreaming of Iceland: The Lure of a Family Legend by Sally Magnusson, pgs 30-31. Chiswick Library, London, England.

I am getting my very own Icepo drawing to hide in a book in the Nashville library. The internet is so full of magic.

Friday, May 11 I listened to:

The new Rufus Wainwright, “Out of the Game”
Tried to listen to the new Rebecca Black song, but it had been scrubbed from YouTube at the time. What a shame.
Meetings, meetings, meetings. No music.
Johnny Cash on the jukebox at dinner.
One Direction on the radio on the way home from the bar.

Yesterday, May 12 I listened to:

Girl Talk’s “Night Ripper” and “All Day” on repeat while skating way too early in the morning.
Of Monsters & Men “My Head Is An Animal,” then a playlist of The Avett Brothers (“Emotionalism,” “I And Love And You” and “The Second Gleam” mostly) while driving to Chattanooga.
More Avett Brothers while driving home from Chattanooga, but they were mostly drowned out by the monsoon.

Yesterday, May 10 I listened to:

Nothing until 12:52pm.
1x: iTunes DJ queue of The Black Keys “El Camino,” Of Monsters & Men “My Head Is An Animal,” s / s / s “Beak & Claw,” Kathleen Edwards “Voyageur,” Tanlines “Mixed Emotions,” fun. “Some Nights” and The Lumineers self titled.
Flitted from here to there while doing some major iTunes cleanout/backup/organization. Half of Active Child’s “You Are All I See,” the first three and a half songs from The Hunger Games soundtrack, obligatory random “Gold Digger” run through and then started flipping through mixtapes and mashups. Listened to The Hood Internet Mixtape vol. 6 again, stopped 7 minutes and 34 seconds short of the end to drive my friend home. But not before making her listen to “Call Me Maybe.”
Top 40 on the radio driving home from my friend’s house, I recall some One Direction, B.o.B and Kelly Clarkson.
Ryan Adams “Gold” to drown out the sound of my computer securely erasing 13,000 mp3s.

This mixtape while getting ready for work, because I saw both Katie and The Hairpin link to it in my pre-work interneting.
Tanlines “Mixed Emotions” on repeat all day at work, 5 or 6 times through.
“All The Things She Said” by t.A.T.u. because uh, I saw something on Instagram that made me think of the song and it was just an itch that I needed to scratch.

Yesterday, May 8, I listened to:

The new Passion Pit single “Take A Walk” another dozen times. When the clock hit noon, I bought presale tickets to see them in July. Then I stopped, I promise.
Childish Gambino’s “Camp,” one and a half times through while getting ready for work and making calls to the Honda dealership. I saw him last weekend in Memphis and he was great.
Sort of not music, but Maurice Sendak died, so then I found myself digging up crappy youtube versions of In The Night Kitchen and Pierre (with Carole King!).

The 30 second clips on Amazon for the following albums: The Lumineers self titled, Jack White “Blunderbuss,” Trampled by Turtles “Stars & Satellites,” Ingrid Michaelson “Human Again,” Silversun Pickups “Neck of the Woods” and Keane’s “Strangeland”. I didn’t purchase any of them but I think I will buy one or two of them eventually.
Some random mixtapes at practice. I didn’t choose them and I wasn’t really paying attention to them.
Not music: a meditation podcast to put me to sleep.

Participating in the Music Diary 2012 project because why not.

Yesterday, May 7, I listened to:

The new Beach House album “Bloom” streaming in advance on NPR. I listened at least five times through while getting ready for work & at work.
“Sugar We’re Going Down” by Fall Out Boy. It was on the radio as I was driving the three miles I commute to work. I sang along at the parts about the luleelurah.
The new Passion Pit song “Take A Walk” streaming on Pitchfork. I listened about 30 times trying to decide if I like it. I think I do.
An Ingrid Michaelson song that was on the radio to promote her show in Nashville last night. I don’t know what song but I thought it was pretty good.
“Some Nights” (the song, not the album) by fun. I only listened to half before I got to my destination, because everything in Nashville is so close to everything else.
More radio. I don’t remember what was on the radio or even what station I was listening to because my car window randomly exploded while I was sitting at a train crossing, and I was stressed out for the rest of the night.

RIP, Maurice Sendak. Thanks for the years of childhood trauma....

Today I am working with my bff who is visiting from LA. We met on Livejournal when we were 14 year old kids living in Virginia and Texas, ended up going to the same college in Nashville and now we work for the same company on opposite coasts, 11 years later. Life is weird and awesome sometimes.

I have made my bed every single day since February 27. I’ve never been a bed-maker (which didn’t - and still doesn’t - really bother me at all), but I don’t think I’ve ever done anything every single day for an entire month. So, here’s to actually doing the things that we say we’re going to do.
