Derek Webb to Co-host "The View" →
ajamison: sds: It looks like The View is trying to keep their evangelical audience in tact during Hasselback’s leave, so they are bringing in Christian men. It’s cool to see media becoming more open about the fact so many of their viewers are Christians. Should make for some terrific conversation, I would think. I’m only frustrated I never got the call! So Derek will host only one episode...

Nate News: Dead Yard: Say a few words. Your... →
Introducing… Dead Yard, a place to post website obituaries. Actually, reintroducing would be a better word. As regional technology beat reporter Tom Cheredar reported, this started as a twitter application and it… it sorta died, so I’m resurrecting it to see how it does in a… Obligatory reblog due to me being featured in this post in all my Internet Hall Monitor glory.

America's Poor Are Its Most Generous Givers →
“The generosity of poor people isn’t so much rare as rarely noticed, however. In fact, America’s poor donate more, in percentage terms, than higher-income groups do, surveys of charitable giving show. What’s more, their generosity declines less in hard times than the generosity of richer givers does.” {via tryingtofollow}

The High Cost Of Poverty: Why The Poor Pay More →
You have to be rich to be poor. That’s what some people who have never lived below the poverty line don’t understand. Put it another way: The poorer you are, the more things cost. More in money, time, hassle, exhaustion, menace. This is a fact of life that reality television and magazines don’t often explain. So we’ll explain it here. Consider this a primer on...

Bryant Family Memorial Fund →
On the afternoon of Friday, April 10, 2009 John Bryant, his wife Kori and newborn baby girl Olivia were caught in the direct path of a destructive F3 tornado in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The tornado claimed the lives of Kori and Olivia, leaving John critically injured. Devastating tragedy hit Nashville’s neighbors in Murfreesboro last Friday. If you have some cash to spare, anything helps.

“This just might catch on. In these last days of the campaign, this might start something– in city after city, in state after state, people might make themselves feel better by looking for the better side of the man they oppose.”
