February 1, 2012: 5 things I am thankful for today
Rock climbing, queso and margarita night with the ladies.
Tendonitis. Because it’s so much better than a fracture.
Epsom salts & hot, hot bathwater.
Gossip Girl on Netflix. I’m not ashamed to say it (okay, maybe I am just a little ashamed to say it) - I needed a totally mindless show to watch, and Gossip Girl has delivered.
That tomorrow is a new day.
It’s been a rough...

2011 tunes
It is January 16, 2012, which seems like as good a time as any to post my 2011 playlist. I was able to get all but two songs on this Grooveshark playlist, so I think this is as good as it’s gonna get.

Here’s the result of my Nashville Letter Art Project: “After 541 Years in Nashville.”
I asked folks to send me letters and answer the following question. After so many years in Nashville, what did you learn?
I added up the collective experience you mailed in and it came out to 541…

Angel Tree Program Sees Record Need This Season →
17,000 kids have registered with Angel Tree in Nashville this year, and right now only 950 of the requests have been filled. You can adopt a kid at any of the area malls and return the gifts you purchase to the same location by December 3.
Also: Second Harvest Food Bank donations are down 30% and they have only collected enough to provide 400,000 meals so far (they projected to be at 2,000,000...

I just signed up for this year’s Boulevard Bolt, a 5-mile Thanksgiving morning run in Nashville. This is hilarious because I have not run since July (thanks, broken foot!), but I have always wanted to run it and I’m rarely in town for Thanksgiving so what the hell. Today is the last day for $30 registration, it goes up to $40 tomorrow and will be $60 day-of. The run benefits...

some quick life notes
Tonight I saw the new Sigur Ros live film, INNI, and I feel like my skin is buzzing with electricity. So I will write about some things.
Blogging about the Wilco show has been on my to do list since October 3 and time has not served to organize my thoughts in any sort of cohesive manner. I’m cutting my losses on that one. It will live on in my memory but not in the all-important Tumblr.
I...

that one time, when...
My favorite time of day is probably that time of day when I’m rushing to get things done so I can leave work at before it gets dark, because nothing is more depressing than leaving work when it’s dark, and I accidentally mouse over the hot corner that puts my screen to sleep, and I have so many programs running by that point in the day that it takes 15 minutes just to get my screen to...

Adventures in learning to skate, part two
My friends who skate promised me that my back would stop hurting after a month or two but that was a dirty lie.
My body is all, guuuuurl why you fall down so much? And I’m all, STFU body, you should be thankful I haven’t broken you in four places like my friend Kate did.
PS: Richland Creek Greenway, I hope you are enjoying my knuckles. I miss them a lot and I’m fairly...

In her new music video for “Knots,” Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan plays a white ukulele while being repeatedly sprayed, pelted and drizzled with wet, Crayola-colored paint. The result is both cringe-worthy and irresistible.
Swoon, Lisa Hannigan. September, you are perhaps the best music month ever.
